Art is Vital

Almost ten years ago, as I was sailing around the world on Semester at Sea, I heard those words which would influence me to this day. One of our professors stated: “Art is Vital”. This truth has continued to guide me every time I pick up the camera or the pen & paper.  Art, in its many varied forms – imagery, words, sounds – is vital to the human experience.
